Releasing techno music is not about making a living from the releases, but gaining visibility and therefore get gigs in the end that will pay your bills. They provide a service to you and you pay for it the one or other way. Had some Beatport Top 10 tracks, but in the end you can‘t live from it anyways…cutting a long story short, don‘t think too much what the distributor gets. From my point of view, it doesn‘t matter because we‘re talking about techno here and nobody really sells a lot. In the end it‘s either you give them a percentage of the sales or you pay a flat fee no matter if you sell 10 units or thousands. Heard good things about TuneCore (Spotify) as well. I‘m using AWAL (formerly Kobalt what’s a huge publisher) and it‘s amazing. Please use flair if you would like to share your pages.
